In this video you will observe the changes that occur during the reactions of three solutions of ammonium cyanide. In this reaction hydrogen cyanide reacts with itself to form larger molecules. This type of a reaction is called a polymerization. The three flasks initially contain the same concentration of ammonium cyanide, however they are at different temperatures. The temperatures of the flasks from left to right are: 25, 40, and 60 degrees celsius. Be sure to observe carefully and note any changes and the relative times that they occur. Use the clock on the bottom as a reference.
